The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

Just read a great but brutally complicated article on planetthoughts.org so I thought I'd bullet point it for a littler easier read but that it was still really just too technical, so what you are getting is what I'm calling paraquoting.
All the grey is paraphrased from the original article...
Global energy consumption is projected to reach 678 quadrillion Btu by 2030.
If you wanted to supply that much power by using only solar panels, how much land would be needed?
A hugely impressive quantity of complicated equations, sums and statistics later...
An area roughly the size of Spain, or 1/46th of the Sahara Desert, or the dots on the map below or...
ONLY 5,000 Solar Farm installations
(each measuring 10km X 10km)

According to the UN 170 thousand square kilometers of forest is destroyed each year.

If we constructed solar farms at the same rate,
we would be finished in just
3 years.

That's Climate Change sorted then!
NEXT...

Whilst that was serious, this is not so much...

Are these the SOLUTION to Climate Change, or Global Warming,
or Whatever we are calling it this week?
